I Fang You, too

She stared at the object, then at him quizzically.
"It is your eighteenth birthday." he stated flatly, giving no indication why he would bestow such a thing on her.
"It's a tooth. On a chain." she raised an eyebrow.
He returned the gesture, but offered no response. After an uncomfortable moment of silence, she bowed and thanked him for his gift. She turned away from him to return to the group and gasped as strong arms wrapped around her waist. Before she could protest, warm breath tickled her ear as he murmured, “I thought even a Miko like you would understand the significance of such a token. It seems once again I expected too much."
As usual, anger and exasperation quickly took over, heating Kagome's face; she twisted to give the Dog Demon what-for, but he held her fast. After a few moments struggling against his grip she gave up, hissing, "Just what the hell is that supposed to mean? I said thank you, what more do you want?"
He growled angrily into her ear, “I give you my fang, but all you do is treat it like a common token of affection! “
Her eyes widened with realization, and she went completely still in his embrace. Her breath came in short, ragged breaths as her mind processed everything. She swallowed, licked her lips, and then swallowed again.
"If you understand, Kagome, then give me an answer." He whispered into her hair.
She twisted in his arms, and this time he let her turn to face him. His eyes swam with everything neither his body nor voice would betray, and she was as captivated as the first time she had looked into those deep pools of molten gold. Stretching up on her toes, she brushed his lips with hers and whispered "Yes."
